PGSF Grants

July 15, 2025 (Pittsburgh, PA) – The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) opened the fourth annual Educational Use Grant Program in January and received over 60 applications from educators requesting funds. The program closed in early April and applications were reviewed by members of the PGSF Board of Directors.

Grants funded by PGSF totaled $100,773 provided to 29 applicants. Over $76,000 was awarded for equipment purchases. Examples include: Illinois State University, Normal, IL received funds for a Roland Direct to Film Printer; Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH purchased an X-RITE i1Basic Pro; Lenoir Community College, Kinston, NC teaches die cutting and purchased Psaligraphy Tooling for projects; Central Connecticut State University, New Britain, CT is purchasing a Vastex V1000 Press and Dryer for use in screen printing.

“The PGSF grant program has provided essential resources for students to explore new and exciting technologies in the Graphics program at Lenoir Community College. Students are able to gain valuable hands-on experience on equipment and tools that better prepare them for the workforce. Without the PGSF grant program, funding for new technologies would be challenging to come by and students would miss out on getting exposed to new technology, equipment, and materials that are being used in industry. We are extremely thankful for the PGSF grant program and our students have directly benefitted from this program.”, said Dwight Downie, Graphics Program Chair at Lenoir Community College.

Grant funds were also allocated for students and their instructors to attend industry events including TAGA, Printing United Expo, Skills USA and Adobe MAX. Funds from the PGSF Gravure Education Fund endowment were awarded for instructors with their students to attend the R2R Conference held in Chicago this Spring.

“It’s exciting to see the increased interest from educators in the PGSF Grant Program. Through our scholarships and grants, PGSF directly connects and inspires students to choose a career in the graphic communications industry,” said Dianne Bullas, PGSF Director of Operations. Since the first PGSF Grant Program in 2022, over $450,000 in grants have been awarded thanks to the generosity of the PGSF Board of Directors and their support of the PGSF mission to build the future workforce of the graphic communications industry.
