The Edward McSweeney Memorial Scholarship Established in 1989
The Edward McSweeney Memorial Scholarship was established in honor of Edward, once called the “father of management development” in the printing industry.
When the Printing Industries of America (PIA) was reorganized in 1945, he became its official management advisor. Mr. McSweeney received the Friedman Memorial Medal. He was only the second industry representative in twenty-five years to receive the President’s Medal for the International Graphic Arts Education Association, for his contributions to graphic arts education. He held a “Gold Card” membership in the American Management Association for his contributions to management development.
In 1970, PIA recognized Edward McSweeney’s contributions by electing him as an honorary life member of PIA. Other awards include the Elmer Voigt Award from GATF and the Bard College Medal.
