The book was originally authored by Harvey Levenson, a respected authority in print art, science, and business, and first published in 2007. In 2017, John Parsons, former Seybold editor, updated and expanded the content to reflect significant industry advances over the decade. Recently, the authors transferred ownership to the Printing Guild Education and Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) to ensure its continued development and availability as a nonprofit educational resource.
